The Reception Barn made the perfect wedding venue for Jen and James beautiful wedding in Hampshire

Rustic Romance

¬Jen and James began their wedding planning by compiling a list of all their wants and wishes. Good food and a great playlist ranked highly on their list, along with a venue that could accommodate their wedding party.

Ticking the boxes

Rivervale Barn was just one of the venues the couple shortlisted – but from the moment they walked in they knew it was right..

“It was beautiful, had a lovely atmosphere and also fitted with our rustic and vintage wedding theme. Nothing compared to Rivervale Barn.”

DIY touches

The couple had plenty of ideas when it came to their rustic-inspired day and it wasn’t long before they got creative. They dressed the tables with lace, hessian and pink and white flowers, and made their own DIY ladder table plan. The Ceremony Barn got the special touch too and was dressed with white chair covers, lace chair sashes, and white wicker hearts. The couple also added a few white birdcages filled with gypsophila and some pretty, lace covered jam jars.

Lovely lace

To match the wedding décor, Jen opted for a lace dress from Confetti Bridal Centre. The gown was adorned with small beads and featured a pearl and jewelled belt.

“The gown was really beautiful so I wore minimal jewellery. I had an ivory flower in my hair and a pearl edged veil, along with a few bits of pearl jewellery.”

James decided to embrace the modern look with a bright blue Ted Baker suit. His three-piece suit was teamed with a white shirt and ivory patterned tie, while Jen’s two bridesmaids completed the colour palette in pale pink.

Lovely lace

Jen and James tied the knot on the 24th April, with Jen arriving early to get ready in the Pamper Room.

“Getting ready at the venue with my bridesmaids was such a good idea as we didn’t have to travel after we’d all got ready. We could just relax and enjoy ourselves in the morning.”

For Jen, the highlight of the day was the wedding ceremony and seeing James at the end of the aisle. James’ favourite moment came later in the day as the guests sat down to enjoy the best man’s speech, which was funny, entertaining and sentimental all at the same time.

A menu to impress

Other highlights of the day included the delicious wedding breakfast and evening party. For their menu, the couple opted for a goat’s cheese ravioli to start, a fillet of beef main, and panna cotta with balsamic strawberries for dessert..

“The wedding breakfast was a really important part of our day and it didn’t disappoint. It went down really well with everybody.”

Jen’s top tip

“Relax and enjoy the evening. We spent so much time walking around and checking that people were OK, we didn’t get much time to enjoy the evening together.”
